Our History
History
Robotime began with our founder Andy’s passion for robotics and exploration during his mechanical engineering studies. He and his friends co-founded “Noah Models Dynamic” with the vision of creating real, moving models. The idea of transforming static models into dynamic creations soon followed, setting Robotime in motion. After winning first place in a startup competition hosted by the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Andy secured initial funding, marking the official birth of Robotime."
In 2008, Robotime successfully developed the world’s first wooden DIY electric T-Rex. Made of wood and electronic components, it could walk, roar, and bite, controlled by sound, light, and remote. This innovation marked Robotime’s debut in the wooden DIY toy market. In the same year, we formed strategic partnerships with Outrageous (USA) and Joker AG (Switzerland), taking our first step toward global expansion.
During this period, Robotime prioritized safety, sustainability, and global compliance, earning key certifications including BSCI and Disney’s Integrated Management System approval. Using FSC-certified sustainable wood, we strengthened our commitment to environmental responsibility and accelerated our expansion into international markets.
In a fleeting moment of inspiration, designer Sam was absorbed in a book at his studio when his cat mischievously knocked a bookshelf over. As the books scattered across the floor, Sam couldn't help but laugh at the chaotic scene. This playful moment sparked the idea of recreating it with miniature models, leading to the creation of Robotime's first-generation DIY miniature houses. “Cathy’s Flower House”, launched this year, quickly became a signature product, marking the dawn of our DIY miniature houses.
During this time, Robotime introduced three distinct sub-brands: Rolife (2017): focused on creative lifestyle and cultural products ROKR (2017): dedicated to mechanical wooden models robud (2020): dedicated to premium wooden toys for children In 2019, Rolife introduced its first original IP character, Nanci—a charming girl with double buns, closed eyes, and a tilted head as she blows bubbles. This character quickly gained national popularity and marked the brand’s expansion into IP collectibles and creative culture.
